Margie Cowlin (Artist)
Margie attributes her love of colour
to her junior schooling at the Waldorf School, where she remembers imagining
the days of the week in different colours. After school she went nursing at
Groote Schuur Hospital, where she met her husband (in her first month!)
Children and family businesses followed, but as soon as there was any ‘Me”
time, she started pottery and then oil painting. A course in mixed media with
Judy Moolenschot in the late ‘90’s really blew her mind and she discovered that
there was much, much more to art than pretty pictures. Her connection to the earth and her beloved
Cape mountains soon showed in her subject matter: landscapes, clouds, jugs etc.
She has exhibited several times with
the girls on The Heap, with whom she still works in their shared studio in
Tokai.
