Judy Moolenschot (Artist)
Art Bio
Judy Moolenschot
Judy was previously the art teacher
for this group of artists exhibiting here.
Having acquired a Fine Art degree later in life, her ambition was to
share the deep joy and excitement of creating meaningful and unique art work. The emphasis has always been on finding a
personal process and exploring one’s unique view of the world. Currently she is retired as a teacher and is
working alongside her one-time students in a tightly-knit group of women
artists at The Heap!
“Getting on”
This collection is a small part of the artist’s visual
record, which explores the physical, emotional, psychological and metaphysical
relationship with her mother over the
past five years. In this period of time
mother and daughter began a regular routine: walking together every Friday. Until that time they had tended to bicker
often but the artist realized that once they got out into the open spaces and
especially into the Fynbos, they became the best of friends.
The fact that they are both now senior citizens – one in her nineties and the other in her sixties - makes them very aware that they have no time to waste and must enjoy what shared time they have left. These walks have become analogies and metaphors for their passage, their progress through Life as well as their many shared burdens and family history.
